Morane Flight Report
Dick Starks

Well .. fellers... We put over an hour on the Morane tonight and a more detailed report will be compiled tomorrow but all I can say is..

I HATE THIS DAMN PLANE!! It flies SO MUCH BETTER than my Nieuport that I've gotta be careful not to fly it too much or I'll be spoiled past the point of no return.

It flew perfect right 'out of the box.' The Big Twin engine has all the poop we could ever with for and is sooooo much quieter than a screaming-it- guts-out Rotax.

Aileron response is just unreal. At least 2 times faster than the Nieuport and maybe even faster. She's so well balanced that elevator control is not at all twitchy as Sweetie Kolb Twinstar. Now that Kolb is a pitch-sensitive little mother but the Morane just does what you want, when you want and doesn't bitch about it at all.

Stalls are a non-event. I even pulled her up at a pretty steep climb angle and kept the stick back and she just kinda wallowed a bit and as soon as I released back pressure, we were back flying in an instant.

On the runway, on takeoff, she goes down like she's on rails with no "taildragger shuffle" like we have on our Nieuports.

Damn she flies nice.

We're going out tomorrow and Sweetie's going to start some serious taxiing work getting ready for her first flight.

DAMN NICE AIRPLANE!!!
